Check Off Your National Park Bucket List

The U.S. National Park Service (NPS) cares for 63 national parks, preserving some of the most magnificent and meaningful places in the country. If you include historic sites, monuments, recreation areas, and seashores, too, that total jumps to more than 400. And the best part? There are plenty of Club Wyndham resorts within driving distance to choose from.

This year, Club Wyndham is partnering with the Parks Project, empowering owners to both enjoy and help preserve the national parks.

A father and son skip rocks while on a vacation at Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennesse
Great Smoky Mountains National Park

The most popular national park is Great Smoky Mountains National Park for a reason. Fall in love with the historic cabin trails at Cades Cove or the peak views at Clingmans Dome. Read this full 3-day itinerary to a perfect weekend at the park, then book your stay at Club Wyndham Smoky Mountains or Club Wyndham Great Smokies Lodge, both just 30 minutes away from the park.

The sun sets over the Grand Canyon and Colorado River in Arizona during a national park vacation
Grand Canyon National Park

One of the world’s most epic canyons awaits at Grand Canyon National Park. Walk around the edge on the Canyon Rim Trail, hike into the canyon itself, or raft down the Colorado River to experience the Grand Canyon in a whole new way. From Club Wyndham Flagstaff, it’s 1 hour, 25 minutes to the Desert View East Entrance or 1 hour, 45 minutes to the popular South Rim.

Joshua Tree National Park

Hike through surreal desert landscapes in Joshua Tree National Park. Just 30 minutes from Club Wyndham Indio, the park has a fascinating variety of rare plants and animals, including its namesake Joshua Tree — a spikey, spindly oddity that looks to be straight out of a Dr. Seuss book. Try the 0.7-mile Discovery Trail, an easy looping hike designed by local students.

A view of the giant granite cliffs from the river valley below at Yosemite National Park in California
Yosemite National Park

A 1.5-hour ride from Club Wyndham Angels Camp, advance reservations are required to drive into Yosemite National Park through Sept. 30. But this stunning national park is worth it. Think thundering waterfalls, giant sequoia trees, and massive granite cliffs — most famously, Half Dome. Apply for a permit to climb it, or drive to Tunnel View to get gorgeous look at it.
