      This popular living history museum allows visitors of all ages to see what it was like in Colonial times. Actors in full costume depict what daily life was like, and this historic area also boasts other attractions like museums and gardens, most of which are open.       Historic Sites

      Explore the Governor’s Palace, Capitol, and Courthouse at your own pace. These are all open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

      Live Tradecrafts

      Watch experts at their craft. Five trades are open at the Carpenter’s Yard, Weaver, Brickyard, Colonial Garden, and the Public Armoury.

      Art Museums

      There are two different art museums to browse, both open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Check out weavings, rugs, and toys in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, and furniture, tea sets, and textiles in the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum.

      Gardens & Trails

      Stroll the Arboretum, home to more than 30 different gardens and the Basset Trace Nature Trail. In particular, you’ll see a variety of award-winning trees, flowers, and shrubs — all self-guided.

      Together with Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown make up the rest of Virginia’s Historic Triangle, with plenty of things to do for any history buff.

      Historic Jamestowne

      Historic Jamestowne is the actual archeological site where the original settlers lived on Jamestown Island. The visitor center and Towne site are still closed, but you can hike or bike the path that loops around Jamestown Island.

      Jamestown Settlement

      Jamestown Settlement is a museum that tells the story of the Jamestown colony all the way from settler arrival to the events that founded America. Explore the exhibits inside, then head outside to see the re-created town with costumed interpreters demonstrating daily life.

      Yorktown Battlefield

      Explore Yorktown Battlefield, the site of the last major battle of the Revolutionary War where George Washington claimed victory. The visitor center is closed, but you can still visit the cannons and trenches of the battleground.

      American Revolution Museum at Yorktown

      Learn the history of America’s founding at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. See exhibits about Colonial times all the way to the writing of the Constitution, then head outside to see the re-created army encampment and a Revolution-era farm.

      Williamsburg Winery

      Take a tour of the vineyard, try a tasting flight, and shop the local wine at Williamsburg Winery. Tours are only available on the weekends and must be reserved in advance. 

      Silver Hand Meadery

      Mead is an ancient drink made by fermenting honey, and Silver Hand Meadery is the perfect place to try it. Their shop is open, and tasting rooms must be reserved in advance.

      Copper Fox Distillery

      Copper Fox Distillery makes craft spirits, specializing in whisky. Distillery tours are on hold, but the store is open and offering tastings and cocktails with outdoor and limited indoor seating.

      More Williamsburg Attractions

      Beyond the history, there are a variety of things to do in Williamsburg — from thrilling zip lines to peaceful beaches. It’s also home to two fun theme parks, Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. Although they have not announced re-opening dates, you can get the latest information here.

      Golf Courses

      Williamsburg National Golf Club has two courses open, Yorktown and Jamestown, and you can reserve tee times online. If you’re traveling with kids, Pirate’s Cove Miniature Golf is open for family-friendly fun.
